A Sweet Monday

It's especially enjoyable when fun things happen on Mondays. I was making good progress on some exciting paperwork this morning when a church friend entered the office with a bouquet. I jumped up and exclaimed how kind it was of her to bring me flowers, thinking they were probably for her granddaughter (momentarily forgetting she has moved on to high school). Then I noticed just how special this bouquet really was, and saw the familiar accompanying Victoria's Secret bag.

Remember the donut abandoned on the back seat in the "Five Blonds in a Minivan" post a month ago? Well, a week later I affectionately packaged that donut into a lovely little Victoria's Secret bag and secretly left it on the church office desk of the person who lost it.

(I thought it would be more interesting if a bite was taken out of the donut before it was returned. I impulsively took a bite and immediately spit it out, but do you have any idea how dry a donut gets after a week? If you are in your car waiting for a train and have no water with you, it's nearly impossible to get the crumbs out of your mouth. Ack. One should really plan ahead when dealing with well aged donuts.)

So this morning, not only did I receive a special delivery of the lovely bag, but also the gorgeous bouquet of wilted flowers and an encouraging card with a personal note from my "anonymous" friend about how God loves old decaying things too.
Well, I figure back and forth is enough, it's time to end this thing. I haven't had a donut in awhile, so it's time to indulge. A petrified donut is really crunchy, but dunking it in coffee softened it right up. Mmm, yummy.

Later in the day, the boss's wife brought their little dog in in his cute new fireman's raincoat. How adorable is that! The boss grumbled about how no dog should be out in public dressed like that, but he didn't hold it against him! As you can see, the decorations from Boss's Day are still up. My boss is the best! (Did you guess that he's an OSU fan?)
And the perfect ending to the day was the art teacher passing through, asking if she could have the vase of dead flowers if I was ready to get rid of it! She said her class is drawing still lifes tomorrow, and this would be a different option. It had some artistic value! I just loved extending the usefulness of that bouquet of wilted roses, nandina leaves and maybe black eyed susans?

No wonder I love my job. It would be absolutely perfect if it weren't for all the paperwork!

(Personal note to those few people who believe everything I say: There is one complete fabrication, also known as a falsehood, or if I'm being really blunt, an utter lie, in this story. I can just hear you sigh with relief and decide that maybe I'm not completely crazy after all!)

Wedding Weekend

I am blessed to work with some of the most wonderful people in the world, including an assistant principal who can make everyone feel good just by walking in the room, generally accompanied by hugs and smiles and laughter. She's just the best! (And she calls me "the Queen"!)  Today I enjoyed attending her wedding as she married the man of her dreams in beautiful Central Oregon on this deck overlooking the Deschutes River.
Such  a lovely setting. Here's a few of my co-workers as we waited for the ceremony to begin.
And here's the bridal party right after the ceremony. The purple shoes worn by the bridesmaids were simply fabulous. Sadly, they changed their shoes as soon as possible! I can't imagine why!
I'm pretty sure that if I had gorgeous purple shoes, I would not abandon them at the earliest possible moment for some flat black sandals. Just sayin'.
Such a beautiful couple! They are both "cryers", and she predicted they would both shed tears at the wedding. Sure enough, as she walked down the aisle, both the bride and the groom were visibly tearful. There was much eye wiping in the audience as well.
Check out the cake and the awesome H at the top. Yep, their last name starts with H.
Did I mention, purple m&ms? And even better, the bridal couple's initials and wedding date on some, their picture on others, and their pug on others? Too cute. Tragically, my close ups didn't turn out.
Her dress was absolutely gorgeous, front and back.

The groomsmen wore purple socks!
It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding for a couple who are beautiful inside as well as outside! I pray they will be blessed with a very long lifetime of love, joy and laughter.

Speaking of wedded bliss, I am so happy that my husband of nearly 30 years was by my side at today's festivities, even though, strangely enough, weddings are not one of his preferred Saturday activities!
It was a wonderful day!
