Western Caribbean Cruise

January 19: After being in an airport or airplane since about 1 p.m. Friday, we were thrilled to join our fellow travelers, Galen and Carol, Venisa and Anthony, at the Houston Airport Marriott as they were having breakfast in the restaurant at 9 a.m. Saturday. A beautiful sunrise in Miami as we were taking off at 5 a.m. had almost made it worth the 16-hour cross-country trip from Portland to Denver to Miami to Houston. We learned that our companions had been awakened twice that night by fire alarms and had to evacuate their rooms briefly. Poor things, they didn't exactly get a great night's rest either.

About to check in! That's our ship!
Love that balcony room! And the big guy too!
The clouds came rolling in and we didn't get to see a sunset the first night.
But we did see our great neighbors.

They saw us too.
We dressed for dinner and enjoyed some wonderful food, great service and excellent company.
It was really awesome to have dinner with my beautiful niece and her husband (who's kinda cute himself)  9 days in a row!
Prime rib the first night!
The next morning, I slept in due to my lack of sleep the night before. It was the only day I didn't get up to see the sunrise. We enjoyed the hot tub and spent a little time laying around on the deck by the pool.  I went to the fitness center with Anthony and Venisa where we did a Cross Fit workout. (After dinner that night, we went to a show and realized that we had been lifting weights alongside one of the dancer/singers.) I had to smile at a lady there who was wearing headphones and doing a Zumba workout all alone as she watched herself in the mirror. Gotta admire those brave souls who just don't care how they look! In the afternoon, we girls did a little shopping, discovered the International Cafe in the atrium, where we got tiramisu and enjoyed it at a window seat, gazing out at the vast ocean.  We made sure we were ready and waiting to watch the sunset that evening from our balconies!

These two are so cute, they could probably be professional travel brochure models!
Seafood for dinner!
Bananas Foster! So delicious!
It was formal night. I took a picture of the photographer taking pictures.
So much fun!
It's pretty crazy to be sitting inside blogging about this while snow is coming down outside and 13 inches have piled up. I just took a snowshoe walk out there and it is amazing and beautiful.

Stay tuned, I will post about the rest as I have time!
